The Exposition Line is the latest extension of Los Angeles' 62-station Metro Rail system and is currently under construction with a scheduled completion date of 2010. The 8.5-mile Phase 1 of the Exposition Line will include approximately ten stations, starting with the existing Metro Rail station at 7th/Metro Center in downtown Los Angeles and running to a future station at Washington/National in Culver City.

Goals:

  • Create viable transportation and connectivity to more neighborhoods
  • Facilitate new high-density development, jobs and housing around the metro stops

Local and Regional Solutions:

The Exposition Line presents opportunities for increased connectivity between different parts of the city; economic development through new jobs and businesses; compact, walkable transit-oriented development; and an increase in mixed-use development and higher residential densities. The Compass Blueprint Demonstration explored the potential for these changes and provided the City of Los Angeles with recommendations for encouraging change that will enhance station-area communities and be market-feasible.
